About Me

"Travelling is where I feel the most me"
Hi, I’m Jo, welcome to my blog ‘untravelling’. If you’re like me, you love setting off for somewhere, anywhere, that’s not here, just to find out more.
Having embarked on a round-the-world backpacking adventure as a shy but curious eighteen year old, I continued to thrill at long distance travel in every decade of my life, taking sabbaticals, jobs and study courses to explore different continents. I’ve lived in Marseille and Sydney, worked ski seasons in Austria, Switzerland and Canada, and explored as many countries as funds will allow.
When ‘real life’ started to take a hold, in the form of a partner and a house, I found myself wanting to be home more, but still needing an outlet for my wanderlust. Increasingly, I’m happy to adventure alone if I can’t get my partner or a friend to tag along, to view a long weekend as stimulating and refreshing as a big trip, or use my love of architecture and independent cinema as the sole reason to plan a local trip. I haven’t hung up my long-distance boots, they’re just taking a rest until I have the time and the money for a big blow-out.
